Services to the Armed Forces

Today's American Red Cross is keeping pace with the changing military. Using the latest in computer and telecommunications technology, the Red Cross allows military members stationed all over the world to send messages to loved ones back home during an emergency or other important events. These communications are delivered around-the-clock, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

While serving 1.4 million active duty personnel, the Red Cross also reaches out to the 1.5 million members of the National Guard and the Reserves who reside in nearly every local community in America.

Hundreds of Red Cross chapters brief departing service members and their families regarding available support services and explain how the Red Cross may assist them during the deployment. Both active duty and community-based military can count on the Red Cross to provide emergency communications that link them with their families back home, access to financial assistance, counseling and assistance to veterans.

Red Cross Armed Forces Emergency Services personnel serve in nearly 1,000 chapters in the United States, on 109 military installations around the world and alongside our troops in Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, Kosovo and Afghanistan.

Project Video Connect:
We're Here Until They're Home

The South Arkansas Chapter of the American Red Cross is proud to announce it's participation in "Project Video Connect: We're Here Until They're Home."

This service allows servicemen and women and their family and friends the opportunity to communicate "face to face" by creating personal video messages, up to 2 minutes long, that can then be sent via e-mail.

Video messages can be recorded at the South Arkansas Chapter El Dorado Office, 404 South West Avenue.  The office is open Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM until 4:00 PM.  You can call (870) 863-8196 for an appointment.  All you need to prepare is bring the e-mail address of the service person.  When you arrive for your appointment, you will sit in front of a small computer video camera and record a two minute video.  You can then review the video and we send it to your loved-one via e-mail.

Past video messages featured the first video of a new baby, local cheerleaders sending a message to a brother overseas, generations of a family gathering for a heart-warming message and a video message that included the family dog.
